Activities for Preschoolers?

Activities for preschoolers can be challenging to come up with. Are you looking for new ideas either because you’re a brand spanking new teacher, or because of an assignment change?  Are you wondering what activities for preschoolers to use to meet early childhood guidelines?  Many schools don’t have a specific preschool curriculum as a result we as teachers are left to come up with our scope and sequence for the year.  Maybe you have a curriculum planning book such as Creative Curriculum, a Montessori.  Many of these give you the theory behind how to teach activities for preschool, but suggest that we differentiate and scaffold based on where kids are academically.  If these pain points resonate with you-

All about Me!

I’m Mary Setoki and SIX years ago I took a new job as an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher. As a result, I also became obsessed with researching activities for preschoolers. It was a night and day change for me.  For the past 10 years, I had been teaching K-12 music, including Jr high and high school choir and band.  I directed musicals, took kids to music festivals at Disneyland, and directed elementary veteran’s day programs, Christmas programs, and our end-of-the-year May Day festival. As a result of family needs, it was time to find a job closer to my children’s school. Originally, I had applied for a different job but was offered the preschool position. To be honest, my first thought was,  “This is glorified babysitting”.

Boy, was I wrong!
