Description

Teaching feelings and emotions to preschoolers is probably our most important task as early childhood educators. The “Checking in With Your Emotions” resource includes the following list of emotions and feelings as emotions in pictures and emotion question cards.

  • Happy
  • Bored
  • Mad
  • Proud
  • Sick
  • Tired
  • Embarrassed
  • Fine
  • Silly
  • Sad
  • Confident
  • Grumpy
  • Disappointed
  • Excited
  • Worried
  • Surprised
  • Frustrated
  • Grateful
  • Shy
  • Scared

Teaching feelings and emotions In my classroom starts with our  emotions wall with all or part of the emotions posted. Children check in by finding their names, attaching them to the card, (I use clothes pins with their names written on them), and then telling how they feel. I’ve included the word strips “I Feel…..” And

“because….” Children are encouraged to make complete sentences by

saying, ” I feel______because_______” The emotions questions cards

are to be used as conversation starters to help students recognize and talk about their own feelings and emotions. I hope you enjoy these feelings and emotions pictures in your classroom as much as I enjoy them in my own classroom.
